SEA LION
Each year around November or December we see the migration of California Sea Lions. To begin with, we generally notice one or two cruising at speed along the coast and headed up island. They seem to be intent on getting where they are going. We don't see them feeding or hanging about for any length of time. Then, you start to notice them with much greater regularity - maybe because we've noticed one or two and we're now looking for them or maybe it's because there are a lot more of them around - it's hard to be sure. Well, it's hard to be sure until you travel up island to the docks around Fanny Bay (I can hear the snickers from our Australian friends - shut up you lot). There are hundreds and hundreds of them that haul out on the docks there. They do a lot of screaming and yelling, pushing each other off the dock and jockeying for position - it's a lot of fun to watch and if you're into photography it's heaven.
