Magpie Jay
The most recent graphite drawing is of a Magpie Jay from a trip to Costa Rica. It is 8x10 on illustration board. The Magpie Jay combines the best of the two birds not only in its appearance but also in temperament. It is a very cheeky, clever bird. Every morning at the open air restaurant in Playa Grande they would wait patiently for handouts. When people left they would swoop in grab the sugar packets and then carefully rip them apart eating only the sugar inside. Why sugar, who knows except it tastes good.
