DAY LILIES
When I drew these lilies I left the background white because the flowers themselves were quite dark. I was worried that with a dark background, similar to the orchids and roses, I would lose the impact of the bottom flower and bud.
The lilies are 8" x 9.5" on hot press board that measures 10" x 11". Although I had to remove them to have the scan done, they are usually double matted (a back interior matt and a white exterior one).

The lilies illustration is one of my favourites, possibly because it has no large areas of black in it. I framed this with a double mat as it says in the description above and it brings the drawing out very nicely.
